Whether you’ve never climbed or only climb in the gym, if your goal is to climb on real rock, then this is the course for you. This one day course covers: Climbing etiquette, equipment, knots, safety, climbing commands, belaying, and the opportunity to climb on real rock. The rest of the day is spent climbing on top rope protected climbs topping out at 40′. Climbs range from easy 5.6 to moderate 5.10. Small instructor to student ratios combined with professional instruction ensure a quality learning experience.
The sport lead climbing course at the NTOPC is an introductory course into sport climbing outdoors. We cover basic anchors, proper clipping, lead belay, top anchor transition & route cleaning and lowering. Lead Climbing Course is four to six hours of instruction broken down over two evenings. Courses will have a maximum of six students. A climbing helmet will be required for all lead climbing.
